Work life balance – a critical prospective of everyone’s life today. I believe that you and me are also in same platform, so we are here. Increasing workloads with technology made us accessible around the clock. Today’s portable electronic devices have obliterated the line between work and home.
In my personal life I am experiencing the situation especially after getting downloads Whats App in my mobile. Everyday new group, new assignment, continue update and follow-up round the clock. Sometime it ruined my sleep at late night also.
Despite of these realities, there are those who have managed to have carved out satisfying and meaningful lives outside of their work. I have met some person in my organization and ask them how they maintain their work life balance. Little good procedure also found in internet. Here are some techniques they practice to get there, which I have already applied in my life.
Live life with passion:
Do you live with your passion? Do you have clear choices about what you want in life?- If no then must read
People who achieve work life balance make deliberate choices about what they want from life and how they want to spend their time.
Check do you spend enough time to talk with your parents, spouses and others who are important in your life? Do you come up with a road map of what is important to you and commit to follow your path?
Many entrepreneurs like me, typically plan to spend a substantial amount of time in the early part of their businesses. Those that achieve balance down the road see this as a sacrifice that will allow them to spend extra time and energy in other areas they are passionate about once the business is established.
So to achieve balance you must have a defined plan around time frames with passion of your life.
Figure out what you want your priorities to be, not what you think they should be. It will help you to extract some valuable time for work life balance.
Ask yourself, “If I could only focus on one thing in my life, what would it be?” Identify your top five priorities and act on them.
For at least one week, track how you spend your time. How much time do you spend doing things that don’t matter to you? Or that don’t align with your priorities? Eliminate those things from your life, or delegate them.
Set aside time for family, friends and important interests:
To achieve work life balance not need to wait what time is left over after work. Make a point of planning and booking time off to spend outside of work and powerfully guard this time.
An emergency would most likely have to come up before you’d reschedule an important work meeting. Give your own time the same respect.
Once you’ve put private time on your schedule, protect it, unless there’s an emergency.
Ratan Tata was at Symbiosis, Pune to deliver a lecture. I quote excerpts of his speech below:
Don’t just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give you a balanced successful life. Balanced means ensuring your health, relationships, mental peace are all in good order.
There is no point of getting a promotion on the day of your breakup.
There is no fun in driving car if your back hurts.
Shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions.
Don’t take life seriously. Life is not meant to be taken seriously, as we are really temporary here.
We are like a prepaid card with limited validity. If we are lucky, we may last another 50 years. And 50 years is just 2,500 weekends. Do we really need to get so worked up?
Its OK. Bunk few classes, score low in couple of papers, take leave from work, fall in love, fight a little with your spouse. Its OK. We are people, not programmed devices!

Look at your personal habits and general lifestyle
Lack of sleep, poor nutrition, and bad exercise habits can cause you to feel a lack of balance in your life, and can counteract any efforts you are making to achieve work-life balance.
You may try with some meditation. You’ll find that you greet work, family, and personal commitments.
Book some time to play tennis with a friend, go to an art museum, or have a message. The activity doesn’t have to be time-consuming, complicated, or expensive.
Put aside an hour on your schedule to read a book, take a walk, or just to be alone.
Set your own parameters around your success:
If you really want to manage your work life balance, you have to developed a strong sense of who you are and your values. Using this as a guideline for everything you do. It will help you what success mean to you.
When you know that what makes you happy , you must strive to get more of that in your life. While your time may be seen by others as being skewed towards either work or life, it is what you consider balances that works for you.
Today’s technology can make the line between your work life and personal life quite blurry.
Turn off your cell phone and laptop when you’re at your son’s soccer game, and ask friends and family not to interrupt your workday unless it’s an emergency.
Take a vacation:
At the very least, take two weeks off from work per year. You don’t need to go far and you don’t need to spend lots of money, but you do need to recharge your batteries in order to be the most productive, creative, and happy person possible. Turn off your cell phone and computer, and enjoy.

Avoid multi tasking at one time:
Forget the myth of multi-tasking. It’s not possible to focus on many things at the same time. Instead, devote your full attention to the task at hand and what is important for you at that time.
Don’t acquiesce to every request that comes your way. If it doesn’t fit into your schedule or align with your priorities, don’t overwhelm yourself by taking on more.
When you are working, work. When you are spending time with your family, focus solely on them.
Tell your boss, family, friends, colleagues, and anyone else involved in your life that you are seeking a better work-life balance.
Tell them what your plan is, and ask them to respect it. Respect your private time.
Achieving work life balance is a never-ending journey, and your needs may be varied in different moment of your life. So evaluate your work-life balance on a regular basis. People who are good at staying on track make a conscious choice to continually talk to the important people in their lives about what is working or not, and make decisions to change direction if needed. While life happens and situations change, they avoid ending up in a place they didn’t want to be due to drifting along.
